About the Department: The Public Works Department is comprised of eight divisions that fall under the direction of the Public Works Director and Assistant Director. Of those eight divisions, Road Maintenance maintains county roads. We believe that by working together, we become empowered and are able to meet the goals set for our department.

We invite you to apply to join our team as a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt Lead Heavy Equipment Operator (Crew Leader) with the Public Works Department, Road Maintenance division. The purpose of this position is to operate and supervise the operation of a variety of heavy equipment in support of the York County Public Works divisions and services; to maintain and perform minor repairs on equipment and machinery, and to perform related work as required. The scope of this position is to assist in supervising and performing a variety of road construction and maintenance tasks using heavy equipment and machinery, including but not limited to grading and paving roads and parking lots, scraping roads, constructing and repairing bridges, constructing barricades, patching roads, installing asphalt, placing stone, landscaping, etc. Asphalt experience is a plus!
Work Schedule: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday. May be required to work occasional overtime to meet productivity demands.
Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 113: $22.49 - $26.99 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications.
