    SUMMARY: The Director of Safety will support the instructional process by putting structures, systems, and procedures in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
    ? Review all District safety and security policies and procedures for a common and enforceable language and purpose, and conduct updated security training for all school district personnel as needed.
    ? Serve as the School Safety & Security Coordinator under Act 44.
    ? Facilitate/participate in related district committees, including the safe school committee, the crisis team, and the workplace safety committee.
    ? Assist principals/assistant principals with disorderly discipline problems (students or adults).
    ? Assists and serves as the first point of contact for bomb threats, hostage situations, and other emergency situations as may be necessary.
    ? Advance and oversee the upgrades with respect to surveillance, keyless entry, and alarm systems as needed in each building.
    ? Organize the use of emergency communication equipment and hardware, including radios, walkie-talkies, cell phones, district-wide phone systems, and silent panic alarms.
    ? Coordinate through building administrators and school counselors to implement effective prevention strategies.
    ? Provide recommendations for threat reduction.
    ? Track usage of district buildings and determine if security is required. Point of Contact for Security requests.
    ? Supervise and be the Point of Contact for district security officers, schedule their usage, and coordinate their training.
    ? Assign, direct, and supervise school security personnel during District events in support of administrators, as appropriate.
    ? Foster and maintain positive relationships with municipal and state EMS agencies.
    ? Contact and/or assist local law enforcement and emergency personnel when needed or while present on School District property.
    ? Ensure district compliance with safety-related state and federal requirements
    ? Assist District staff with problem situations as requested.
    ? Enforce parking restrictions and issue traffic and non-traffic citations.
    ? Serve as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet.
