Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
- Assesses, prepares, and gathers materials needed for each project.
- Perform carpentry tasks to include: The ability to work with all grades and types of hard woods, plywood, sheet rock and water proof sheeting.
- Perform carpentry tasks to include: The ability to build effective support systems and be efficient in wood and metal stud framing.
- Maintains records of materials and labor expended for each project or job assignment.
- Attends scheduled meetings and trainings required to maintain technical skills and qualifications.
- Proficient in math and able to calculate, measure and cut pieces with minimum waste. Standard: Ensure that all jobs are safely accomplished to meet established standards of performance and quality.
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Three years experience in designated trade or licensed journeyperson.
