Superintendent - Civil Concrete Construction

Position Scope

The Civil Concrete Superintendent is responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision, and execution of all concrete-related civil construction activities on assigned projects. This role ensures that concrete work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead concrete flatwork crew(s) by assigning work duties; observing and monitoring work tasks; providing feedback to employees; evaluating work performance; and assisting employees to correct deficiencies
  • Read & execute plans efficiently
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, and Operations
  • Identify and organize daily labor requirements
  • Organize mobilization and identify necessary equipment required
  • Lay-out, forming, reinforcement, install and finishing of concrete flatwork projects
  • Help keep others on task
  • Plan a safe project site and implement work activities in a safe way, every day. Following OSHA standards
  • Plan for and secure needed materials and equipment; ensuring project is completed in a timely manner; inspecting work; and provide solutions to problems as needed
  • Maintain equipment by inspecting equipment for damage; and performing routine maintenance

Education and Work Experience

  • Three (3) plus years of experience as a Concrete Finisher
  • Three (3) plus years of experience as a Concrete Form Setter
  • Proficient in use of construction tools
  • Experienced in operating mini-excavators and skid steers and pouring concrete
  • Must have the ability to oversee site work and projects
  • Bilingual preferred Spanish/ English communication and written ability
  • Ability to make important decisions under pressure
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to delegate effectively
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Detail oriented, reliable, and punctual
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving history
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs-100lbs.
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills and punctuality
  • Good communication skills and ability to work and lead a crew
  • Valid driver’s license

Work Environment

  • Active civil construction sites such as roads, bridges, utilities, foundations, and infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to noise, dust, heavy equipment, and changing weather conditions
  • Ability to travel throughout Midwest for projects as needed
