The Superintendent manages field operations and partners with Project Managers to drive successful project execution, ensuring work is completed on time and at or below budget.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Understand roof practices, techniques, codes, and regulations.
Superintendent manages the crew foremen and all commercial roofing field operations.
Oversee the jobs in progress to ensure they are on schedule, meets budget both with labor and materials, and monitors safety rules on site.
Work with the Project Manager to schedule material loading and deliveries.
Ensure all information is provided to Foremen in a timely manner prior to job start.
Manage scheduling / understand inventory control and labor budget management.
Must be able to prioritize workload to ensure that the most important tasks are completed first.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints, construction specifications, and perform take offs with details and measurements if needed.
Make quick rational decisions and manage job site crisis due to unforeseen issues.
Must be able to meet and communicate effectively with Building Owners, Engineers, and general contracting superintendents at on site meetings and visits.
Manage job inventory control to ensure materials are available and tracked throughout the project.
Complete and submit daily field reports detailing labor, material usage, progress, and conditions.
Complete as-built drawings at the end of each project to document final construction details.
Monitor and manage RFIs and change orders, ensuring timely communication and resolution.
Plan and maintain two-week look-ahead schedules to proactively manage labor and material needs.
Maintain quality control through regular inspections and ensure work meets specifications.
Make tear-off decisions based on weather conditions to avoid delays or damage.
Take full safety ownership of job sites, including enforcement, documentation, and leadership in safety meetings.
Other tasks as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Five (5) years as a Superintendent with commercial roofing company
Knowledge of commercial roofing with single-ply, asphalt, cold applied, standing-seam, hot applied and metal projects, preferred.
Valid driver’s license
Basic computer skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
OSHA 30 Safety certification, EM 385 1-1 certification, and CQM certification strongly preferred.
