 Shop Foreman/Lead Mechanic: Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Foreman, Lead Mechanic, or Service Writer. A polished professional appearance and excellent communication skills are essential. Must have a valid CDL (or willing to obtain CDL upon hire) with clean, insurable, driving record and be willing to work rotational Saturdays as scheduled.

Requirements

  

  • Supervise and support service technicians in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and equipment. 
  • Greet customers in a professional and courteous manner when they enter the service department or over the telephone.
  • Discuss clearly needed repair work, estimates, and advise on any outstanding recalls or factory recommended preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the industry’s current best practices in heavy duty repair.
  • Distribute tasks to technicians based on their demonstrated qualifications and competencies.
  • Conduct extensive diagnostic procedures to determine the source of customer problems and provide accurate repair recommendations.
  • Inspect vehicles according to the state and federal requirements for emissions and safety.
  • Maintain legible and accurate paperwork for both the customer and shop record.
  • Clean and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
  • Continual follow up with customers on status of repairs.
  • Complete repair orders by asking good diagnostic questions to identify customer needs/concerns and record the information accurately.
  • Enter all incoming repair orders into the scheduling system in the order in which they are received.      
  • Identify repair orders that require special handling, such as rush, customer waiting, special problem, comeback, etc.
  • Contact customer for approval of additional repairs or maintenance as needed and keep accurate documentation.
  • Follow up with the customer after truck repairs are completed, to assure expectations were met.
  • Effective use of problem solving and customer service skills
  • Clearly communicate warranty information and policies to customers.
  • Keep service manager informed of all potential issues involving repairs, customers, or equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of service technician experience (lead or supervisory experience a plus).
  • Possess superior customer service skills.
  • Computer proficient.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety protocols.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2 years of technical or trade school education preferred.
  • Combination of education, training, or experience provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
