Job Summary

As a Security & Safety Coach, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing environment for both youth and adults. You’ll help promote safety by stepping in to diffuse tense situations and eliminate stressors, ensuring everyone feels supported and secure.You’ll work closely with direct care staff, guiding daily activities, meeting client needs, and modeling safe, positive behaviors. 

When challenges arise, your calm, compassionate approach will help resolve them and keep things running smoothly. In the absence of the Cottage Life Supervisor, you’ll step into a leadership role, offering guidance and support to keep the team focused and organized.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for keeping the unit safe, clean and orderly 
  • Familiar with patient goals; able to follow individualized treatment plans for patients provided by team of professionals        
  • Provide needed supports to youth and adults        
  • Assist with patient supervision and engagement  
  • Provides crisis intervention and initiates emergency response plan, when necessary 
  • Completes required documentation, forms and reports per agency's policy and procedures; enters documentation accurately and timely per required deadlines utilizing KVC Missouri computer software programs 
  • Documents relevant information on each client regarding their behavior and interactions 
  • Utilizes HRIS system to keep personal profile up to date, record PTO, source information on benefits, and stay abreast on company updates  
  • Provides transportation for patients to visits and other appointments as needed and directed 
  • May assist in meal preparation and laundry as needed and directed 
  • Attends staff meeting as directed
  • Attends and completes all required in-service training and course work on an annual basis per agency requirements
  • Learns triggers and patterns of behavior for clients and uses that knowledge to mitigate escalated behaviors, thereby actively attempting to avoid the use of physical intervention
  • Ensures that clients have, and maintain, understanding of their current SMART goals and treatment plans
  • Could include duties related to the completion of drills and inspections, in compliance with TJC requirements
  • Conducts searches of persons and locations to locate and remove prohibited or high-risk items.
  • Provides relevant information to the treatment team to develop effective interventions to reduce risk of harm
  • Immediately addresses identified safety risks. If risks cannot be immediately remedied, they communicate identified risks to the leadership to be addressed by the appropriate department
  • Other duties as assigned

Education: High school diploma or GED from an accredited high school

 Qualifications:Valid driver’s license and auto insurance

 Experience: 1-year related experience and/or training

 Preferred Experience/Skills: Experience working in a behavioral health setting or related field focused on service individuals using trauma informed and person-centered approaches
