Maintenance Electrician

General Description:

The primary objective of the Maintenance Electrician is to provide electrical support to the Maintenance and IT Departments.  The Electrician will assist in maintaining all mill equipment and performing PM’s.  The daily activities of any maintenance personnel is subject to change due to the needs of the mill therefore, scheduled hours must be flexible. 

Responsibilities:

• Maintain licensure & attend any necessary educations and updates
• Work weekends on short notice for repairs or special projects
• Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools
• Reading and understanding prints/specs prior to starting a project
• Maintain a safe and clean work area
• Communicating with the purchaser and maintenance supervisor to further support cost effective ways to manage purchasing and inventory control company wide.
• Travel to all locations as needed 
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Effective Written and Oral communication skills
• Able to work well with minimal supervision
• Ability to Prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
• 2+ years relevant experience
• Appropriate Licensure

Safety: 

• Hard hat in designated areas of the Planer Mill
• Hard hat in all areas of the Sawmills and Log Yard
• Exception being – inside saw cabs, crane cabs, outside forklift machine cabs
• Steel Toed footwear required in all areas
• Gloves required in designated areas – per task in either mill
• Hear Protection required in all areas
• Exception being – inside cab of outside machine forklifts
• Eye Protection required in all areas
• Face Protection, when necessary, per task 
• Florescent vests required for all outside activity 
• Exception being – pedestrian travel from one building to another

• Report all near misses and unsafe acts
• Pedestrian awareness at all times in the area
• Follow KLC employee handbook policies & procedures

Physical Requirements

• Bend, stretch & twist occasionally
• Moderate wrist / hand repetitions
• Stand or sit for periods of time
• Reaching, pushing, pulling
• Lifting 5 – 50lbs
• Walk on uneven ground at times
• Ability to work in all weather conditions (below 0 temps to over 90º)
