Idaho National Laboratory is hiring an IT Architect Lead to work on our Infrastructure team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off.

  • Design and develop integrated IT architecture solutions for business problems in alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Perform technical planning, architecture development, and modification of specifications.
  • Develop specifications for new products/services, applications, and service offerings.
  • Ensure compatibility and integration of proposed products/services to maintain an integrated architecture.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, develop, analyze, and maintain system architecture, including cloud environments.
  • Coordinate the design and integration of complete solutions including commercial and custom subsystems.
  • Maintain knowledge of new and emerging technologies to enhance system architecture.
  • Develop specifications for new products and services, and recommend technology improvements.
  • Perform system design and programming, ensuring correct database configuration.
  • Provide best practices for identity management, access controls, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Provide technical support and modifications to optimize network performance.
  • Manage planning and installation of hardware and software for INL systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Develop customizations to integrate applications and federate services across organizations.
  • Conduct technical planning, architecture development, and modification of specifications.
  • Perform testing and conflict analysis on new systems and provide results to INL organizations.
  • Mentor junior staff and train members of IM in effective use of standards and tools.
  • Document best practices of software engineering and software-defined services.
  • Develop, install, patch, and upgrade supporting products; establish policies and document procedures.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of management systems using an architectural approach.
  • Integration of on-prem and Cloud Datacenter Resources.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a computer related degree such as Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Cybersecurity and 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Engineering or Engineering Technology and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of computer systems/operations, Oracle database, C++ and C# programming languages.
  • Understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems and programming.
  • Experience with ADA programming language, Oracle PL/SQL, Cisco network equipment, and OpenVMS operating system.
  • Knowledge of complex, heterogeneous environments operating Microsoft Windows, Apple OS X/macOS, and Linux systems.
  • Understanding of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity and information assurance regulations (e.g., FISMA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOX, SP, FIPS, RMF).
  • Support and use Integrated Safety Management System principles.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

  • Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
  • VMWare Certified Professional
  • Red Hat Certified Architect – Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Cloud implementation and configuration experience

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is $111,888 - $229,284. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, use hands to handle materials, manipulate tools, keyboard and type, reach with hands and arms, and operate job-related equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
