Title: Facilities Specialist
Reports To: Executive Director

Job Category: Non-Certified Administration
Job Goal: The Facilities Specialist provides leadership, research, and guidance in all SASED operations related to the SASED facilities project in evaluating current SASED facilities, exploring alternative facilities/space usage, and developing recommendations to improve SASED facilities resources and utilization.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience serving as an Owner’s Representative on K–12 or special education facility projects or coordinating similar projects in a leadership position
Knowledge of ADA, IDEA, and other applicable codes/regulations affecting special education environments
Familiarity with public procurement laws and regulations in Illinois
Strong communication, coordination, and project management skills
Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including school boards, educators, and parents
Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and contracts effectively
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills

Essential Functions:
Assist in the selection of architects, engineers, and contractors
Develop project budgets and schedules
Review and advise on design documents
Coordinate with stakeholders, including special education staff and community members
Review project documents and provide recommendations on project feasibility, budget, and schedule
Conduct constructability reviews of design document
Coordinate and facilitate communication between the Cooperative, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders
Develop a detailed Project Schedule and Budget and establish project goals and success criteria
Manage the General Contractor bid process in coordination with the architect, including RFP development, bid review, and contract negotiation
Manage communication and information flow among all project participants
