Facilities Maintenance Technician II

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

Pay: $25-$29 per hour, depending on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician II to support daily maintenance operations and help ensure the safe, reliable operation of facility equipment and systems. This is a hands-on maintenance position for a skilled technician who enjoys troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of mechanical and facility equipment.

The ideal candidate has strong experience working with pumps, motors, hydraulics, and mechanical systems and is comfortable diagnosing equipment issues, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting facility operations. Experience in wastewater facilities is highly preferred.

The Maintenance Technician II will work closely with maintenance leadership and facility personnel to ensure equipment and building systems remain operational, compliant, and well-maintained.

A Day in the Life

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician II, your day will be focused on equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities.

You may begin your shift by reviewing assigned work orders, inspecting equipment, and prioritizing maintenance tasks for the day. You'll perform scheduled preventive maintenance, respond to equipment issues, and assist in keeping the facility operating efficiently.

Throughout the day, you'll troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, mechanical equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical components, and other facility systems. When issues arise, you'll use your technical skills to diagnose problems, identify root causes, and complete effective repairs.

You'll work closely with other maintenance technicians and facility personnel, document completed work, maintain accurate records, and help ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and according to company standards.

Before the end of the shift, you'll update work orders, communicate equipment concerns, and prepare information for the next shift to help maintain smooth facility operations.

This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys solving mechanical problems, supporting facility reliability, and working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
• Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, and mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general facility systems.
• Respond to equipment failures and maintenance emergencies as needed.
• Assist in identifying root causes of recurring equipment issues and support corrective actions.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and work orders.
• Operate maintenance tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments safely.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Work with vendors and contractors when required.
• Support facility improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with inventory management and maintenance-related purchasing activities.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Support team members and contribute to overall facility reliability and performance.
• Communicate equipment concerns, maintenance findings, and repair recommendations to supervisors.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical education or relevant maintenance training preferred.
• 3-5+ years of facility, industrial, or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with pumps and motors.
• Strong hydraulics experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment.
• Experience working with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and facility systems.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Ability to diagnose equipment issues and identify root causes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to safely use maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Wastewater treatment or wastewater facility experience.
• Experience maintaining wastewater pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, or related equipment.
• Technical certifications such as EPA, CFC, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other relevant certifications.
• Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, utility, or commercial facilities.
• Knowledge of facility regulatory and safety requirements.
• Experience supporting maintenance improvement projects.
• Familiarity with energy efficiency and sustainable facility practices.

Technical & Technology Requirements

• Experience using CMMS or maintenance management software for work orders and preventive maintenance tracking.
• Knowledge of mechanical diagnostic tools and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

Physical & Other Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when required.
• Ability to work in confined spaces as needed.
• Ability to perform physically demanding maintenance activities.
• Valid driver's license preferred if travel between facility locations is required.
