Job Summary: 

 

The Facility maintenance Day Porter supports AFG’s mission by maintaining the organization’s facilities, performing regular cleaning, repairing, fleet management tasks and coordinating/supporting the work of contract vendors.  

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Perform general repairs as needed on building, grounds, vehicles, equipment, such as repairing doors, locks and handles; replacing light bulbs, sockets and switches; patch drywall, etc.
  • Perform basic plumbing tasks.
  • Perform daily cleaning duties of all areas of the building, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, etc.
  • Maintain outdoor areas such as mowing, trimming, edging, shoveling, etc.
  • Inspect control panels and electrical wiring.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance supplies—notify Manager of the need to order.
  • Promptly respond to help-desk ticket requests for emergency repairs and clean-ups.
  • Ensure maintenance equipment is in good working order.
  • Collaborate with vendors on maintenance/repairs at the facility as needed.
  • Assist with safety and fire protection and prevention programs by inspecting work areas and equipment and conducting drills as required.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

  • Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule including after-hours and/or weekends, when special events are scheduled to occur.
  • Good attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Ability to move furniture when needed and lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Conscientious worker with demonstrated reliability and good attendance.
  • The ability to safely operate hand and power tools and cleaning equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Able to troubleshoot equipment and building system problems.

Acquired Knowledge: 

 

  • High school diploma/GED preferred but not required.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience with basic plumbing, carpentry and electrical wiring required. Proven general maintenance experience necessary.
  • A minimum of 6-12 months experience in facilities maintenance, housekeeper, custodian, janitor or similar role.
  • Experience sending and receiving emails and texts and ability to learn our help-desk ticketing system.
  • Knowledge of the use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Working knowledge of the methods, technique and materials used in custodial work.
  • Familiar with operating, caring for and storing custodial equipment and supplies.
Transportation Requirements:
The position requires travel to meetings, client locations, court, hospitals, or other sites. The employee may be required to drive a company vehicle or use their personal vehicle for work‑related purposes. A valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the organization’s auto insurance policy are required.
