The Diesel Technician in Bismarck, North Dakota, is responsible for the timely repair and maintenance of light- and heavy-duty fleet vehicles, trailers, and various equipment to ensure a safe and efficient operation. The Diesel Technician position requires a high level of proficiency and working knowledge related to diesel engine diagnostics, brakes, tires, AC, and PM services. We are working out of 2 Bays for the Tractor repairs, and a Heated Canopy has been newly installed for Trailer Repairs. You will have access to the Fleet Vehicle onsite only. CDL A or B is a plus, but not required.
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
Pay: $40.00 - $48.00 Hourly DOE

Essential Duties:
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to a fleet of light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty trucks. The fleet also includes CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
- Perform services and repairs to diesel engines, brakes, tires, AC, and regular PM services.
- Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
- Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare the safety documentation required
- Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
- Inspect and perform work on the underparts of vehicles
- Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
- Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles
- Interact with clients through both email and phone as necessary
- Perform other duties as required
Key Competencies:
- At least 5+ years of experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school
- Experience servicing and repairing CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment – highly desired
- ASE Certifications – preferred
- Must have a valid Driver’s License- Class C
- Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
- Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle
- Must provide own hand tools & toolbox
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
- Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise.
- Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases or other irritants
- Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance
- Ability to move and position heavy objects
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
