Position Description

 

 

POSITION TITLE:          CTE - Teacher

 

FLSA:                             Exempt

 

QUALIFICATIONS:        Must hold proper state certification

 

REPORTS TO:              Principal and/or other Supervisor

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  200 days with benefits provided.

 

                            

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Teaches skills, knowledge, and scientific attitudes through courses in technology education to students, utilizing curriculum designated by Lunenburg County Public Schools.

  2. Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division’s basic instructional philosophy to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.

  3. Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of Lunenburg County Public Schools.

  4. Plans a technology education program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student experiments; organizes activities for optimal learning.

  5. Instructs students in the proper use, care and safe handling of equipment.

  6. Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.

  7. Provides for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment and tools.

  8. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions and field trips.

  9. Evaluates each student’s growth in knowledge and skills in the course being taught.

  10. Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.

  11. Supervises students in assigned out of classroom activities during the working day.

  12. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.

  13. Administers testing in accordance with division testing practices.

  14. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:   

  1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  2. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  4. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  5. Serve on committees as assigned.
  6. Remain current on instructional practices in education.  (e.g. instructional technology)
