Position Overview:
The Substitute Custodian ensures that our facilities remain safe, clean, and well-maintained for scholars, staff, and community members. This flexible, as-needed role provides coverage for custodial staff absences and special events. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting our mission by maintaining an environment where learning can flourish.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.

• Ensure floors are swept, mopped, vacuumed, and properly maintained.

• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling according to school procedures.

• Assist with setup and teardown for school events and activities.

• Monitor supplies and communicate needs to the Operations Manager.

• Follow all health, safety, and security protocols.

• Respond to building maintenance or cleanliness concerns in a timely manner.

• Support the overall mission and culture of ARLCS by ensuring facilities reflect pride and care.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience strongly preferred.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks.

• Dependable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling.

• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment.

• Willingness to embrace ARLCS’s mission, vision, and values.

Compensation & Schedule:

• Substitute custodians are scheduled on an as-needed basis.

• Compensation is competitive and aligned with district substitute pay rates.
