Graycor is currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Estimator to develop conceptual and hard bids for our manufacturing, industrial, and energy transition markets. We are looking for a proven professional with a strong track record in creating competitive bids and budgets, with a comprehensive knowledge of the latest industry standards and practices.

 

Job Description:

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive self-perform estimates for mechanical installation projects.
  • Conduct take-offs and apply labor hours for piping or equipment installation
  • Develop budgetary estimates from conceptual level design drawings
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Develop options and recommend best value solutions based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materials
  • Source and evaluate supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, materials pricing, and construction techniques to ensure accurate and up-to-date estimates.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of estimating tools, processes, and best practices.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must have a solid understanding of plans and specification lump sum and conceptual estimating techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret installation manuals, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with 7 - 10 years of work experience in the estimating of mechanical piping and / or equipment installation in a union and / or merit-based environment.
  • Working out of a Graycor office (Oakbrook Terrace, IL, Charlotte, NC, Phoenix, AZ) is preferred; however, remote work with minimum one office visit per month and bid closings is an option.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical installation, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have experience using an estimating application (i.e. WinEst or similar).
