POSITION SUMMARY
Maintain, repair, and install plumbing equipment in the hospital buildings.
This position is responsible for performing plumbing, heating, and cooling system tasks, including installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of various systems such as drainage, water, and fire protection systems. Duties include service work order completion, maintaining a safe and organized work environment, and ensuring compliance with safety and occupational policies. The role requires flexibility for on-call and off-shift scheduling and emphasizes teamwork and maintaining positive relations with crew members and other departments. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Graduate from a vocational-technical school required.
Within one (1) year of hire /transfer, successfully completes The American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), NFPA-99, “Healthcare Facilities Code”, Certificate of Attendance. This will be tracked and maintained by the Facilities department.
Annually achieves Continued Education Credits (CECs) until (ASHE), NFPA-101-2012, “Life Safety Code”, Certificate of Attendance is completed. This will be tracked and maintained by the Facilities department.
Experience:
Minimum of (5) years of experience working as a plumber required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Carries out duties related to plumbing, heating, and cooling piping systems.
Responsible for the completion of all service work order assignments in a timely fashion.
Maintains shop area in safe and orderly appearance.
Installs sanitary drainage, storm water, and potable water systems.
Repairs toilets, sinks, and other plumbing fixtures.
Performs preventive maintenance and periodic testing of fire protection systems such as fire pumps, dry pipe systems, chemical suppression systems, fire hydrants, post indicator valves, backflow preventers, etc.
Available for on call. Could be scheduled for off shifts and rotation as needed.
Complies with established occupational exposure policies.
Maintains good relations with other members of the crew, other crews, and all other departments so that work is performed in a harmonious manner.
Complies with all safety codes whether Federal, State, or local; maintains a safe work environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
