Job Title: Lift Electrician
Department: Lift Maintenance

Status: FT Year Round Hourly

Reporting To: Lift Maintenance Manager


Position Overview:


Ski Lift Electrician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots the electrical systems that power our ski lifts and associated resort infrastructure. This role is critical to the safe and efficient operation of our lift systems and requires strong expertise in electrical automation and control systems. Work is performed in a dynamic, demanding outdoor mountain environment where quick thinking, technical skill, and a commitment to safety are essential.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Preventive Maintenance – Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks on electrical and electronic components, including motors, control panels, safety circuits, sensors, and communication systems.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs – Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues under time-sensitive conditions, including emergency lift breakdowns.
  • System Inspections & Compliance – Ensure all systems meet applicable safety standards and electrical codes (e.g., ANSI B77, NEC).
  • Installation & Upgrades – Support installation of new electrical infrastructure and upgrades to existing systems, including automation and control system enhancements.
  • Documentation – Maintain clear and accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Emergency Response – Respond promptly to lift failures or electrical emergencies, including during adverse weather conditions.
  • Team Collaboration – Work closely with lift mechanics, operators, and resort personnel to ensure lift readiness and optimal performance.

Requirements and/or Qualifications:

  • Industry Experience – Prior experience working on ski lift or ropeway electrical systems, including familiarity with their unique operational, safety, and environmental requirements.  
  • Electrical Systems Expertise – Strong understanding of analog and digital circuits, PLCs, AC/DC motor drives, 3-phase and single-phase AC systems, and low-voltage DC controls.
  • Automation & Control Systems – Proven experience with automated systems, including the ability to configure and troubleshoot PLCs and safety interlocks.
  • Technical Proficiency – Able to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and OEM technical manuals.
  • Physical Capability – Comfortable working at heights, lifting heavy equipment, and performing tasks in cold, snowy, or otherwise extreme conditions.
  • Field Readiness – Ability to operate snowmobiles or off-road vehicles to access remote lift locations.
  • Problem-Solving – Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Safety Focused – Deep understanding of electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and a commitment to risk mitigation.

Physical Requirements- Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:

  • Full range of body movements
  • Reach, push, pull, lift, and carry objects that may be heavy (40+lbs)
  • Alpine Mobility - Ability to ski or snowboard advanced terrain to reach remote locations.
  • Prolonged periods of bending and twisting
  • Vision requirements – close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception
  • Walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain
  • Climb/descend stairs

Working Environment:

Work is performed inside and outside consisting of extreme temperatures, loud sounds and noises that are distracting, sun and wind exposure, inclement weather (rain, snow, ice), and high altitudes (9,000 ft+). Occasional driving in extremely bright or dark conditions.

Salary Description
$27.50 - $42/hr
