Our Career and Technical Education Instructors develop and implement instructional programs that effectively provide the best possible education for each and every student. Additionally, this role will leverage strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders to support student success.
Course Description:
Carpentry I:
Carpentry I provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to begin a career in the construction industry. Emphasizing workplace and jobsite safety, students learn the proper use of hand and power tools, material measurement and cutting, basic construction mathematics, blueprint reading, and introductory rigging concepts. Students also gain experience identifying and constructing common residential building components, including wall, floor, ceiling, and roof framing, as well as door and window installation. Upon successful completion, students earn the Construction Industry OSHA 10 safety credential.
Carpentry II:
Carpentry II builds on the skills introduced in Carpentry I and prepares students for entry into postsecondary education and careers in carpentry and related fields such as construction management and architecture. Students expand their proficiency with industry-standard hand and power tools while applying advanced construction techniques. Instruction focuses on assembling and installing residential construction components according to industry standards, including foundations, floor and wall framing, ceilings, roofs, trusses, roofing materials, stairs, and exterior doors and windows. Students continue to reinforce industry safety practices and apply their OSHA 10 credential knowledge in hands-on projects.
Carpentry III:
Carpentry III is an advanced course designed to deepen students’ technical knowledge and practical construction skills. Students explore specialized carpentry areas such as deck and porch construction, alternative framing methods, interior finishing, drywall installation, and energy-efficient building practices, including green technologies.
