PCSI is looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist at its Detroit Arsenal Site. We seek a motivated and friendly team member to assist in the continued development of a comprehensive Environmental, Health, & Safety (EH&S) program to reduce or eliminate the risk of injury, loss of life, or property damage. The EHS specialist will perform a variety of administrative duties related to EH&S mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. This position is located in Warren, MI. This position will report to the EHS Manager at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, MI.
SHIFT: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Monday – Friday
Rate of pay:
$31.65 per hour, plus $5.95 for health and welfare (union position) with annual increases

What You'll Do as an EHS Specialist:
- Provide continuous safety training to team members and consistently promote safety while building a positive safety culture within the organization.
- Coordinate and prepare activities to sample, identify, classify, profile, label, and manifest waste streams for proper disposal to off-site disposal facilities. Maintain documentation of manifests.
- Conduct inspections and complete written inspection reports pertaining to Asbestos, Above Ground Storage Tanks (ASTs), Mold, Soil Erosion, Storm Water, Under Ground Storage Tanks (USTs), and Water Testing
- Promote and manage the site-wide recycling program. (work with other site organizations)
- Coordinate training and respond to hazardous material releases and participate as a member of the HAZMAT/Spill Response team in the containment and cleanup of spilled materials.
- Inspect and update SDSs to ensure compliance with the Hazard Communication program.
- Responsible for the general facility first aid kits/eyewashes/Personal Protective Equipment Inventory, along with inspections.
- Communicate regularly to all levels within the organization as appropriate.
- Responsible for working with leadership on obtaining and preparing proper documentation and organization of all Environmental documentation as it pertains to the organization.
- Assist / Coordinate with organization and outside organizations (such as subcontractors) on environmental-type work projects.
- Assist / Coordinate efforts with Environmental or Health Concerns that arise at the Site.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum two years of experience in the Environmental or Safety field.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background check, and motor vehicle report.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, including a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced work environment, with the flexibility to adjust priorities to meet internal and external client demands.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be an insurable driver by the Company
- Able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
- Proficiency with industry-standard computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint.
- Possess, or have the ability to obtain, the following certifications:
OSHA 30-hour, General Industry Certification
OSHA 30-hour, Construction Industry Certification
40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification
MI Certified Asbestos Building Inspector
MI Certified Construction Site Storm Water Management Operator
MI UST B Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Working Condition
- Physical ability to lift 25 pounds and perform prolonged standing, bending, or walking as required by the role
- Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
- Must be able to obtain and maintain:
- Security clearance, including a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation
- CAC Card
- Work is primarily performed in a secured warehouse/supply cage environment and could be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors
- May be required to work occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays to meet operational demands
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required based on tasks performed
