The Team

We are seeking a Construction Estimator to join American Tower’s Construction & Development organization. The team is responsible for the delivery of all new assets and management of capital improvement and structural redevelopment projects across our tower portfolio. Day to day you will generate cost estimates of the material, labor and equipment required to complete new site construction and site modification activities. As a Construction Estimator, you will partner cross-functionally to obtain accurate up-to-date pricing while maintaining awareness of new and emerging industry practices.



Responsibilities

What You Can Offer Us

  • Analyze blueprints, shop drawings and engineering narratives and prepare detailed, accurate quality takeoffs and construction cost estimates for new tower development, electrical and HVAC upgrades, and access road upgrades at existing sites.
  • Deliver within tight deadlines accurate construction cost estimates for tower upgrades and structural modifications.
  • Maintain database of historical pricing estimates and statistics to reconcile estimate v. actual bid costs.
  • Seek ways to minimize costs by suggesting alternative design or scope adjustments without compromising safety or quality.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of cost estimates to external customers.
  • Approximately 20% of time in the role will be performed outside conventional office environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of telecommunications, civil construction or commercial construction industry experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience directly estimating civil construction required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience estimating construction, structural upgrades steel fabrication, concrete labor rates and material cost throughout the U.S. required.
  • Approximately 20% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
