THE OPPORTUNITY Join an established semi-custom homebuilder delivering around 200 single-family and attached homes every year across the St. Louis region, while supporting our operations in our new Columbia, Missouri division.
As our Architecture and Design Compliance Manager, you’ll be the hub where design, engineering, and construction meet—ensuring every plan is accurate, code-compliant, and permit-ready.
You’ll keep projects on schedule and budget, coordinate in-house and outsourced drafting, and put your architectural expertise to work by signing and sealing single-family plans and orchestrating approvals for attached and multifamily products. If you love precision and thrive in a fast-moving environment, this is your chance to make a direct impact on hundreds of homes and families each year. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ What you’ll do: • Lead & Organize – Supervise a small drafting team, set CAD standards, and ensure quality plans with minimal field changes. • Manage Outsourcing – Engage and oversee outside drafting/architectural partners when workloads spike. • Oversee Lot-Specific Plans – Review and approve all lot-specific construction documents for accuracy and code compliance. • Develop Interior Layouts – Direct cabinet layouts and kitchen/bath drawings needed by trades and purchasing. • Integrate Custom Options – Make sure every buyers structural or design option is captured correctly in the final plans. • Supervise Permitting – Drive permit packages through municipal review and address comments to keep timelines on track. • Coordinate Plot Plans – Work with surveying engineers on grading, utilities, and setbacks. • Engineer & Detail – Collaborate with third-party structural engineers on required details and sign/seal documents when needed. • Architect of Record – Sign and seal single-family plans; coordinate signing and sealing of attached and multifamily products with outside architects. • Advance Processes – Keep the digital plan library organized and look for new tools to speed up and improve plan production. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ WHAT YOU NEED • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field preferred. Licensed architect or on a track toward licensure and Missouri certificate of authority. • Experience: 3+ years of residential architecture or construction documentation experience and 1+ year leading or supervising a team. • Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD/BIM tools; solid knowledge of the International Residential Code (IRC) and St. Louis-area building regulations; strong organizational and communication abilities.
